4Quartets

2009

A dance, music and visual art collaboration inspired by TS Eliot’s poems Four Quartets

4Quartets is a series of interlinked works inspired by TS Eliot’s poems Four Quartets, four poems written between 1935-1942. Each choreographer selected one of the poems and developed their own distinct response to the rich textures of Eliot’s language and structure as well as the contrasted themes of stillness and movement, hope and despair, mortality and eternity.  The result is three pieces performed live twinned with specially created artwork by Sharon Kelly and one video installation. All of the pieces are united by a new composition from renowned composer, Neil Martin and are presented in the order of the poems in TS Eliot’s Four Quartets.
