Luail : Self fascia-release workshops with Jana Castillo
Luail, Ireland’s National Dance Company announces a series of workshops with Australian dancer and choreographer Jana Castillo in Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Dublin and Belfast this October.
Maiden Voyage are delighted to host Jana Castillo Self Fascia Release Workshops presented by Luail, Ireland’s National Dance Company at The Crescent Arts Centre on Friday 18th October from 10.00-12.30 and 14.00-16.00. Please book only one workshop.
This workshop series, will equip dancers with an easy-to-learn technique to enhance and support their movement practice. Fascia, a continuous structure throughout the body, plays a crucial role in movement and can become restricted due to injury, stress, trauma or the everyday challenges of modern life.
Alongside her own movement practice, Jana’s approach facilitates the release of tightened fascia, promoting increased malleability and greater resilience—essential for dancers navigating physical challenges.
Workshops will also take place at The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at UL, Tipperary Dance, Galway Dance, and Dance Ireland in Dublin.
About the Artist
As the recipient of the 2018 Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer, Jana has toured globally with esteemed companies Australian Dance Theatre, Okareka (NZ) and Shaun Parker and Company (AUS), gracing prestigious venues such as London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre and New York’s The Joyce Theatre.
Beyond her performance accolades, Jana has contributed significantly to the screen industry across feature films, commercials and short films –perhaps most notably in her stunt motion-capture acting for the iconic Weta Digital in New Zealand. As a contemporary dancer who lives with generalised dystonia and autism, her work also extends to disability advocacy and neurodivergent representation within the arts community.
