Best

Still from Maiden Voyage Dance production of Best

Dynamic and fast-paced dance theatre performance which interprets the life of a football genius, BEST spans a 40-year period and leads the audience through George Best's many loves, highs, lows and triumphs.

The performance refers to the music, fashion, design and movement style of the various eras and is inspired by letters, photographs and Best’s 1998 autobiography Bestie alongside selected football highlights of his career.

“The Best dance in town” The Belfast Telegraph

“Ryan O’Neill sensitively portrays the ever-young, pretty boy George, while Stevie Prickett brings a world-weariness to those moments when the glittering lifestyle threatens to turn discordant and distorted.” Jane Coyle, The Irish Times

The production premiered at Belfast Metropolitan College on 18 February 2010 before touring to Armagh’s Market Place Theatre, The Waterside Theatre in Derry, Lisburn’s Island Arts Centre, Strule Arts Centre in Omagh and Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick.
