Movement and Movement Direction Workshop

Working in dance and movement is an ever changing and diverse experience. It is an interesting but sometimes challenging job requiring versatility and the ability to adapt and change according to the project, the director and the participants.

In this one day explorative workshop we will look at the different elements that need to be considered at each stage of the process in addition to the creation of the work itself. Through discussion, Q and A’s and practical movement sessions we will explore a range of fun scenarios and challenges that can present themselves on any given job.

Topics will include: different styles of movement for different projects-choosing the right genre for the piece. Listening to the Director and interpreting their ideas.

Working with actors- how we can assist actors/performers in the learning of a movement style, collaborating with and getting the most from people of different level of abilities and comfort zones.

The workshop is designed for dancers, actors, choreographers and anyone who is interested in movement from either a participation or directing perspective. It will be an investigative practical day with plenty of time for exploring, learning and discussion.
