 Maiden Voyage is Belfast's only professional contemporary dance company. Established in 2001 by Artistic Director and dancer Nicola Curry, Maiden Voyage works with local, national and international artists and organisations to bring the best of contemporary dance performance and practice to audiences across Northern Ireland and beyond. Committed to the development and production of high quality dance experiences, Maiden Voyage has produced touring commissions since 2002. Most recently completed is 4Quartets inspired by the TS Eliot poem of the same name. Best is currently in rehearsal and will tour in February 2010 The company offers a range of education and outreach opportunities. These take the form of masterclasses, residencies, workshops and lectures and include the Leap forward initiative. The work relates to the touring productions or can be developed in consideration of the particular interests, ages or ability of participating groups Maiden Voyage is also dedicated to developing dance skills in Northern Ireland through its mentoring initiatives and professional development courses. These currently include Dancelab which is run in conjunction with Belfast's Old Museum Arts Centre and ProDance weekly classes at the Dance Resource Base studio in their Donegall Street premises. |
